Prison island Zanzibar is famous for its Prison and Giant Tortoises. Firstly it was the location where slaves were detained and held until they were transported to places in the Middle East or Europe. Next it was a quarantine center where people with deadly diseases were left. Now it is a nature reserve.
We visited here in June 2001.
